Nestled on a tranquil hilltop, Hirschen Wald - Gasthaus & Baeckerei was the perfect escape for our family getaway. While we could only stay for one night, every detail-from the warm welcome to the breathtaking panoramic views-made it feel like a mini-vacation in its own right. The highlight, without a doubt, was the substantial breakfast featuring homemade bread; it was the ideal start before embarking on a scenic hike through the majestic Appenzell area. The quiet location along a one-lane mountain road is truly a gem, and the warmth of the staff added to the charm. My daughter loved the two resident cats, Zucker and Zimt, who wandered the sunlit garden where we relaxed post-hike. Plus, with only a handful of rooms available, reservations are essential-a perfect amount of seclusion for those looking to recharge amongst nature. I definitely left with the dream of returning for a longer stay!
